There are approximately 40,000 locums tenens physicians currently working in the United States. The author presents his experience in the industry. In addition, various topics are explored including liability issues, financial reimbursement, travel and psychological adaptations. Suggestions are presented to improve the chances of success as a locum’s tenens provider. This article is written for the current and curious provider in mind giving real-world advice.

Traditional techniques for wound closure are- Sutures (stitches), staples and adhesive tapes. Tissue adhesives have entered clinical practice more recently. Sutures enable the closure of the wound to be meticulous, but they have drawbacks. Sutures may show tissue reactivity and can require removal.

A 35 years old male presented with right testicular swelling for last six month. He developed hemoptysis and mild dyspnea for 2 weeks. Ultrasonography revealed testicular malignancy with multiple heterogenecity. CT scan of the abdomen did not reveal any lymph node metastasis. His X-ray chest showed extensive pulmonary metastasis. All three tumor markers were raised. Histology was suggestive of mixed germ cell tumor with a rare combination of Seminoma and Choriocarcinoma. Because of this rare combination of 2 varieties of testicular germ cell tumor and advanced systemic metastasis we presented this case.

This scientific article is devoted to the study of the effect of magnetite nanoparticles (MCS-B brand) on the functional platelets activity of human. 0.9% NaCl was used as a control. The results of the study showed that the use of NaCl saline solution shifts the colloidal suspension equilibrium of platelets towards a significant (P<0.001) increase in the rate and index of their aggregation. For the first time, the effect of 0.9% NaCl on function of platelets makes us reconsider the concept of safety of infusion solutions in patients with initial signs of platelet disorders hemostasis. On the contrary, the use of MCS-B nanoparticles significantly revealed (P<0.05) an increase in the stability of colloidal suspension of platelets. This is an important pathogenetic factor which affects the occurrence of correction of hemostasis in conditions of blood clotting disorders.

Orbital lesions are frequent findings after blunt periocular trauma causing diplopia, muscle avulsion etc. Four patients presented with diplopia after a penetrating injury to the right eye. Examination revealed right hypertopia and limitation of infraduction of right eye with rupture of Inferior Rectus. Immediate repair of inferior rectus muscle with anterior transposition of inferior oblique is a safe and effective procedure to restore motility.
